Theme
The theme of Watership Down is very tough to describe,it's a mix between horror, adventure, fantasy, and even religion. Every single fighting, terrifying backstory,or the destruction of a warren(specifically Sandleford) part explains the rumble in great detail, and it's not afraid to reveal blood in the fight, giving it a bit of horror. The journey to Watership Down and escape from Efrafa gives the story a bit of advemture, especially considering the enemies the rabbits encounter, like foxes, badgers, and owls. Dandelion's stories of El-ahrairah and Rabsuttle give are simple fairy tales and folklore, which gives"Watership Down" its fantasy. Finally religion is brought in considering that Lord Frith made everything in the universe, and The Black Rabbit of Inle being the rabbit Grim Reaper taking dead rabbits to Heaven or Hell would DEFINITLEY bring religion into the story.
